BIM Land brings Bach Dang victory into dialogue between history, heritage, and the contemporary era at Halong Marina
Quang Ninh, December 19, 2025
BIM Land, a member of BIM Group, officially inaugurates a sculptural installation exhibition inspired by the historic Bach Dang victory at the waterfront landscape park overlooking Ha Long Bay, within the Halong Marina coastal urban complex, Bai Chay.
Chairman/CEO Doan Quoc Huy officiates the ribbon-cutting ceremony together with Mr. Nguyen Hoang Quy, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Bai Chay Ward, and visual artist Le Huu Hieu.
For the first time, a large-scale public art ensemble dedicated to the Bach Dang victory is presented as a long-term installation within a coastal urban setting, opening a dialogue between history, heritage, and contemporary life at the heart of one of Quang Ninh’s most dynamic tourism and cultural destinations.
The exhibition features 18 metal soldier sculptures, ranging from 3.3 to 4.5 meters in height, arranged across an area of more than 2,000 m² and oriented directly toward the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay. In 2021, the works were first introduced to the international public at artist Le Huu Hieu’s solo exhibition at the Arsenale Venice, occupying a 1,000 m² space in the heart of Venice - widely regarded as the cradle of contemporary art worldwide. In 2025, the works became a central highlight on Nguyen Hue Walking Street (Ho Chi Minh City) as part of a series of cultural and artistic events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (A50), attracting significant attention from both the public and professional circles. Their continued long-term display at Halong Marina marks the works’ journey from national-level cultural events into everyday coastal urban life, bringing historical heritage closer to local communities and visitors alike.
The exhibition was created by visual artist Le Huu Hieu - the first Vietnamese artist to receive an official invitation from the Organizing Committee of the Venice Biennale 2024, and a recipient of the title “Pioneering Artist on the UNESCO Heritage Journey” awarded by UNESCO Vietnam–Japan in 2025.
Through a restrained, minimalist yet powerful visual language, the works reinterpret the spirit of the Bach Dang warriors in symbolic sculptural forms, representing the indomitable will and enduring valor of the Vietnamese nation.
In 2021, after attending Le Huu Hieu’s solo exhibition Soul Energy, Italian Deputy Minister of Culture Vittorio Sgarbi remarked:
“Artist Le Huu Hieu possesses a distinctive artistic style, with an ability to harmonize tradition and innovation, figuration and abstraction, while weaving Eastern culture into Western art. The strong expressive power and originality of his works seem to have transformed Vietnamese history into a conceptual form, through an open dialogue with the present, enriched by the presence of legends and emblematic figures”.
Visual artist Le Huu Hieu shares his remarks at the exhibition’s opening ceremony.
Sharing at the exhibition’s opening ceremony, the artist stated: “I hope that as viewers walk among the soldier sculptures, they can feel the heroic spirit of Bach Dang - where our ancestors inscribed glorious pages of history. Partnering with BIM Land to bring this work to a land rich in historical values is a profound joy for me”.
Connecting heritage – enhancing destination value
Bringing the Bach Dang victory sculptural installation to Halong Marina forms part of BIM Land’s sustainable destination development strategy, aimed at adding cultural depth to Quang Ninh’s tourism and entertainment ecosystem. Situated within a coastal urban environment, the work becomes a connective thread between history, identity, and community, offering a new cultural experience for residents and visitors.
The Bach Dang victory sculptural installation has officially become an unmissable check-in spot for anyone visiting the Halong Marina coastal urban complex.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Deputy General Director of BIM Real Estate Joint Stock Company, shared: “We believe that a sustainable destination is built not only on infrastructure or amenities, but also nurtured by cultural values. The sculptural installation on the Bach Dang victory reflects BIM Land’s commitment to honoring national history, while contributing to positioning Quang Ninh as a cultural, artistic and tourism hub of the country”.
The exhibition is presented as a long-term open-air installation, emerging as a new cultural landmark at Halong Marina - a coastal urban development home to a community of more than 10,000 residents, alongside an integrated ecosystem of international-standard hospitality, commerce and entertainment.
A Community Art Space – A new reason to visit Ha Long
The Bach Dang victory sculptural installation delivers multiple benefits to the local community and Quang Ninh’s tourism landscape, enabling residents and visitors to engage with history in a vivid and emotionally resonant manner; creating a coastal promenade for leisure, relaxation, and artistic experience; and adding a cultural check-in point alongside journeys to explore Ha Long Bay.
Mr. Tran Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bai Chay Ward, highly appreciates the significance of the exhibition.
A representative of the Bai Chay Ward People’s Committee commented: “The Bach Dang victory sculptural installation not only enhances public spaces but also spreads a strong sense of national pride. We highly appreciate the efforts of BIM Land and BIM Group in bringing art closer to the community, contributing to elevating the tourism and cultural standing of Bai Chay Ward in particular and Quang Ninh Province as a whole”.
Through this sculptural installation exhibition, BIM Land continues to affirm its destination development orientation grounded in cultural and artistic values, positioning Halong Marina as a coastal urban space where heritage, people, and the contemporary era resonate in harmony.
