From the very first days of establishment and development, the model of green economic complexity has been targeted by BIM Group's leadership. In 2006, BIM Group has started its investment in salt production in Quan The - Ninh Thuan. In 2019, a cluster of 3 solar power plants and wind power plant already-built on this area have formed a model of a Green Economic Complexity with Renewable Energy combined with Clean Salt Production.
This Complexity has reached an annual yield of 300 thousand tons of salt and a capacity of nearly 500MWp of electrical energy. It is expected that the amount of VND 163.3 billion was paid to the State budget in 2022 and 80% of total 1.100 employees are locals.
Originating from shaping the clean salt production process and improving salt quality, the use of clean salt and clean energy produced on-site is expected to deploy a project of green technology complexity from salt, creating added value, as well as optimizing local resources including natural and people.
BIM Group is aiming for the immediate goal of balancing emissions, and further goal of contributing to the national "net zero" strategy by 2050.
The most important mission identified in the way of development by BIM Group is to change the lives of local people in a positive way. Firstly, the use of local laborers in destinations invested by BIM Group shall be prioritized. Typically, 90 percent of the total employees working for 03 salt factories in Ninh Thuan province are locals
BIM Group is also always ready to share technology with local people. In 2006, Pacific oysters were brought to Vietnam by Ha Long Production Development & Investment Company (one subsidiary of BIM Group). After the success in developing this oyster variety, this technology shall be widely shared with farmers to turn Pacific oysters into an OCOP (one product per commune)-certified product of Van Don.
This technology sharing was also previously done in Ninh Thuan when HDPE tarpaulin coating technology in salt mining was popularized by BIM Group for salt producers and small businesses in Ninh Thuan (especially in Tri Hai or Ca Na areas). As result, the yield and quality of salt are much better than that of traditional manual mining. 1 ton of salt mined by tarpaulin technology gives a higher value of 170 to 200k/ton compared to salt mined in the traditional way.
In the field of Real Estate, in April 2021, USD 200 million of international bonds listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) with an interest rate of 7.375%, a term of 5 years were successfully issued by BIM Land – a subsidiary of BIM Group. This is also the first unlisted enterprise in Vietnam to successfully issue bonds in the international market and a pioneer in Green bonds – a type of bond where the proceeds Returns from the release must be used to implement green, valuable projects for promoting sustainable growth.
By setting up Green Financing Framework with an independent consultant, BIM Land's high-end resort real estate projects including InterContinental Ha Long, Park Hyatt Phu Quoc and Grand Bay Halong New World - Hotel Villas have been awarded the IFC's EDGE green building certification for energy saving, water saving, and new environmentally friendly materials.
In 2022, BIM Care was officially become a social program, targeting disadvantaged infants; children suffering from fatal diseases without medical treatment due to economic conditions; supporting them in their quest for a healthy, independent life; educating them to make knowledge as a foundation for the future.
The Newborns Vietnam Cooperation Agenda was signed in June 2022, aiming to sponsor the Newborn Life Support (NLS) course to equip medical staffs with knowledge and skills to predict problems in infants, assess children and aware them in need of help. The overall goal is to reduce infant mortality and diseases. It is expected that in 2022, 145 participators will be trained for neonatal resuscitation certification, 8 of whom will be trained to become neonatal resuscitation instructors in the delivery room to continue implementing the program to other locations.
In 2021, the fundraising running program – UpRace successfully donated tens of millions of dongs to Newborns Vietnam, which were collected from the participation of thousands of BIM Group officials and employees completed 31,862 km and ranked in 12th place in the total 1,160 teams.
BIM Care has been officially implemented since August 2021, in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak in the southern provinces. With the support of 3000 officers and employees and the determination of the Board of Directors of the group, over VND 100 billion are sponsored by BIM Group on the most "urgent" issue as food and medical oxygen.
With 2 projects providing free medical oxygen to the community and giving 46,000 gifts equivalent to 500 tons of food and essential food, 184.000 people were supported by BIM Care.
All employees of BIM Group are motivated to participate in physical practices through preferential policies for them at Elite Fitness; jogging, yoga clubs and community sports activities, etc. The human health and positive life message is spread widely; in addition, the results of running steps in the UpRace program are donated to charity funds.
In 2019, BIM Group was a silver sponsor for the Tay Ho Half Marathon, and then signed a partnership to sponsor the running race in 2021 and 2022 to spread the message of healthy living to the community in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. The Race attracted over 5,000 people living in the capital.
In 2022, in the journey of spreading the inspiration of healthy living, BIM Group continues to sponsor the VnExpress Marathon Amazing Ha Long which attracts about 11,000 participants and the Triathlon 5150 in Phu Quoc.
From April 8 to May 14, 2023, when each individual completes the challenge of running at least 6km and shares publicly the message "Exchange kilometers for green trees" on social media, BIM Group will plant a new green tree on your behalf in big cities across the country.
